How we handle your data across the WSCA programme.
WSCA Measurement Toolkit
Thank you for your interest for signing up to our free-to-use online tool. Our tool helps schools implement good practice for mental health by capturing information about how local settings are developing their Whole School and College Approach (WSCA) to Mental Health. Your answers may be used for data analysis as part of future evaluation and research into strategies to promote mental health in schools and colleges.
It is important to note that your data will be pseudonymised and therefore identifiable information will be kept separate from your answers to the toolkit and will not be shared outside of the WSCA toolkit team. No individuals, schools or colleges will be named in any research reports, datasets or other outputs based on such data analysis, nor will they be identifiable from any other information provided in the research outputs. However, if you would prefer that pseudonymised data from your school or college is NOT included in any data analysis of mental health in schools, you can indicate this, any time, in your Account Profile. Before each analysis we will export the data from the platform, only those who have given consent for data to be used will be included. Once analysis has begun and once completed, you will not be able to remove your school's data from that particular analysis, so please ensure your consent preferences are always kept up to date.
Alongside analysis of data that you provide from the WSCA toolkit, this data analysis may incorporate additional data from publicly available information about your school or college (e.g. school type, Ofsted rating, or pupil characteristics from Department for Education sources). This linkage will be done at the institutional level only and will never include personal or pupil-level information. All linked data will be stored securely and accessed only by the WSCA research team. It will be analysed and reported in pseudonymised, aggregate form, and will not be uploaded to any external platforms or repositories.
We may also conduct research projects in the future that are related to the Whole School and College Approach and social and emotional wellbeing of children in school. If you would like to be contacted and informed of any future projects, you can indicate this in your Account Profile here. You can opt out of this contact at any time and even if you do opt in, you are not obligated to take part in any research we may contact you about.
We only process your email address to enable you to register with our online tool and to contact you about new projects, if you opt into this. We will never share it with anyone else. No other personal information is collected. Any personal data provided will be processed in accordance with the University of Sussex's Privacy notice (link opens in new tab) and current data protection legislation. We will retain your email address as long as you are registered with the tool. If you would like to delete your registration profile, please contact us via [email protected].
If you have any queries concerning your personal data and how it is processed, you can contact [email protected].
Resources hosted on WSCA website
When you download resources from our website (e.g. governor and trustee resources, publications), or register your interest in future updates, you may choose to share some personal information with us. This is entirely optional: you can download resources without providing any details.
If you do share your details, we may collect your name, email address, role, region and organisation type. We use this information to understand the reach of our resources and to measure their impact. We will never share your details with anyone outside the WSCA programme team.
If you tick the box to say you are happy to be contacted, we may get in touch to ask you to participate in research about WSCA and to seek your feedback about how the resources have been used and their impact. You can withdraw this consent at any time by contacting us at [email protected].
Any personal data provided will be processed in accordance with the University of Sussex's Privacy notice (link opens in new tab) and current data protection legislation. We will retain your details for as long as the WSCA programme is active. If you would like your details to be deleted, please contact us via [email protected].
